My son did it now downloaded some bad software help me to remove it?

he downloaded what was suposto be a no cd patch what he got was a program that turns off the firewall and norton antivirus and starts mailing out stuff we disconected from the web started in safe mode ran virus scan removed virus removed explorer helpers ran spyware it seamed ok for an hour but its back now

i dont want to reformat what elce can i try

You have to turn off System restore completely before removal of the bad guys, otherwise it puts it right back on, on the next reboot...

1.Turn off systems restore on ALL drives %26 Reboot.

2. Start in safemode and remove the bad guys.

3. Restart as normal and make sure everythings OK.

4. Then you can turn system restore back on.

This is one reason I don't use systems restore for anything anymore (totally turned off of all drives) and use Acronis

TrueImage for backup images instead...

Rule #1 Always, always, always scan everthing before opening it or clicking on it!!!!

Geeksquad. Sounds like what will need to be done is a little beyond you and your son. Even with directions.
If You Tried Everything, You Best Bet Is 2 Reinstall Windows And Get Norton Go Back Or Something. Better Luck Next Time.
