Why am I besieged with ads?

I subscribed to Norton antivirus software in 2006. I had no problem with an outburst of unwanted ads. As soon as I loaded the 2007 Norton 360 package I was flooded with ads. I want to get rid of them. Please help.

Yes, Ad-Aware is free and is good, however you might want to consider not allowing so many cookies. It may reduce the ads. From Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, carefully review the Privacy, Security and Content tabs.
