What is the best security minded hardware and software for a LAN Network?hijack this

First of all, if you listen to Joseph you'll have a ''home-quality'' network for 80 people. If there are that many employees, then the CFO will know the difference between an expense and an investment when it comes to spending money. If you want anything free, then get out of the business of being in business. If you want good equipment, then start with these basics...

Anti-virus: AVG? Not for a business. The free version is for home use only. Symantec corporate or Trend Micro is the only way to go here.

Switches: 3com superstacks or Cisco catalyst.

Routers: You won't need one for just 80 people. The ISP will supply the router with the leased line, which, by the way, should be a T1...not DSL. This is a business, after all.

Servers: Depending on what you are doing, iSeries IBM or Windows 2003 Standard. If you don't have the expertise in IBM (you really have to know IBM servers...I mean...REALLY know them), then the Windows 2003 will work. Get familiar with GPOs.

Firewalls: Zone Alarm? Why would you try to block unwanted traffic to your computer by letting unwanted traffic into your computer so you can check the unwanted traffic and then block it before it gets to your computer...or...wait...it's already in your computer now...I think....
